Tony Xu is the CEO and co-founder of DoorDash, a technology company passionate about transforming local businesses and dedicated to enabling new ways of working, earning, and living. As a first-generation American who grew up working in his mom’s restaurant, Tony started DoorDash to help small business owners succeed. Prior to co-founding DoorDash, Tony worked in Product at Square, led special projects for the CEO and CFO at eBay, and began his career at McKinsey and Company. He holds a B.S. with high honors in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar.
DoorDash is focused on being the restaurant industry’s “last-mile” solution and has grown into a $700 million leader in the on-demand space. Today, the company is also focusing efforts on an issue particularly important to Xu, using that same logistical expertise to reduce food waste with the recent launch of Project DASH. In just four years, DoorDash has become the industry standard for restaurant delivery, serving as the primary off-premise partner for the country’s most prominent chains including The Cheesecake Factory, Chipotle, Wendy's, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro and Dunkin’ Donuts, while also championing corner restaurants like the one Xu grew up in.
