Terry Laughlin is chief risk officer for Bank of America. Laughlin is responsible for overseeing the company’s governance and strategy for global risk management, including relationships with key regulators and supervisory institutions worldwide.

A member of the company's executive management team, Laughlin leads the Global Risk Management organization. His team leads enterprise initiatives for managing risk well and sustaining a strong risk culture. Laughlin oversees the development and implementation of risk management measures across both global enterprise and independent line-of-business risk teams. Combined, these teams manage strategic, market, credit, liquidity, compliance, operational and reputational risk matters to support sustainable, profitable corporate growth.

Previously, Laughlin established Bank of America Legacy Asset Servicing with responsibility for resolving legacy mortgage-related issues.

Before joining Bank of America, Laughlin served as the president and chief executive officer of OneWest Bank, a private equity consortium which acquired selected assets, liabilities and operations of IndyMac Federal Savings Bank from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). He had overall responsibility for managing the company’s operating businesses and key risk and support functions. While at OneWest, Laughlin led the acquisition of several additional FDIC-assisted acquisitions in Southern California, including First Federal Savings Bank, FSB, and La Jolla Savings Bank, FSB.

Laughlin's experience also includes various senior leadership positions with Merrill Lynch, including serving as chairman and chief executive officer of Merrill Lynch Bank & Trust, and FleetBoston Financial, where he served on the company's management committee, led strategy and development and oversaw the international banking business including the firm's market-leading franchise in Latin America.

Laughlin is a member of the board of trustees at the University of Pittsburgh and serves on its Investment and Institutional Advancement committees.
