Suneel Bakhshi is President and CEO of Citigroup Global Markets Japan Inc., a role he assumed in April 2012 after serving as Chief Risk Officer for Citi's Commercial Bank. Prior to that role, Suneel was Chief Risk Officer of the Global Consumer Group and Citibank N.A.

In the five years before being appointed to Risk in 2008, Suneel has held several senior Banking roles, heading Citi's Global Commercial Bank, the Emerging Markets Corporate Bank, as well as Emerging Markets Local Finance for Citigroup International.

Prior to his Banking assignments, over a twenty year international Trading career, Suneel led Sales and Trading for CEEMEA (Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa), Derivatives Trading for both Citibank and Citigroup in Western Europe, Derivatives for Citibank in Japan, and Risk Treasury for Citibank in the Middle East.

Suneel has represented Citibank on the Board of the International Swaps and Derivatives Association as well as on the Derivatives Consultative Committee of the Bank of England. Since 2002 he has continued to serve on the Board of the RamaKrishna Mission Hospital in Haridwar, India, a non-denominational charity hospital.

Educational qualifications include an MBA from Queen's University in Canada, and a B.Comm (Honours) degree from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, India.
