Currently serving as Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs for Somatus, Inc., Ramon also practices as a solo nephrologist and works as a clinical researcher at NOVA Nephrology and Clinical Research in Woodbridge, VA. He was a partner at Washington Nephrology Associates and the medical director at the Fresenius Alexandria Kidney Center for 25 years. Ramon served as Chief of the Renal Section at Inova Alexandria Hospital and in the Fresenius Medical Care Medical Advisory Board.

He’s completed both research and clinical Nephrology fellowships at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Board certified in both internal medicine and nephrology, Ramon is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology and the American College of Physicians. Ramon has been principal or co-investigator in over 35 clinical trials. As an author or co-author, his work has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals including the American Journal of Physiology, Kidney International, and the Journal of Clinical Investigation.

Ramon’s passion lies in working to delay the progression of kidney failure and to improve the clinical outcomes of patients with CKD. Ramon believes the current practices aimed at these problems have resulted in stagnant, unacceptably high mortality and cardiovascular event rates in this patient population. He embraces the Somatus approach to personalized care, integrated health strategies, and evidence-based clinical practices to transform kidney care.
