Rakesh, with over 17 years of venture capital experience, He is Managing Director of Sood Ventures. and has also served as Venture Advisor to NTT Docomo for over 10 years. He was instrumental in establishing DOCOMO Capital in Silicon Valley in 2005 and directing many investments in the mobile sector. Rakesh’s current investments include Evernote, Practice Fusion, Knightscope, and Kinvey. Rakesh also led the due diligence in Couchbase. Rakesh’s exited investments include CliQr (Cisco), Arkin (VMware), PredictionIO (Salesforce.com), Invensense (IPO), Swype (Nuance), GestureTek (Qualcomm) and Beceem (Broadcom).
Prior to DOCOMO, Rakesh was a Partner at Reed Elsevier Ventures where he established the U.S. office for the London-based media company’s strategic venture operation focused on business information services, data management, business intelligence and enterprise software. Before Reed Elsevier Ventures, Rakesh was a General Partner at Sprout Group in Menlo Park. Rakesh was responsible for investments in Netli (Akamai), SRD (IBM), Siperian (Informatica), Business.com (R.H.Donnelley).
