Mike Chan joined Accel as an Entrepreneur in Residence in November of 2012. Previously, Mike led all platform development at Three Laws Mobility Inc. (3LM), a start-up focused on providing enterprise security and device management for mobile devices. 3LM was acquired in 2010 by Motorola Mobility Inc., which was later acquired by Google Inc. At 3LM, Mike led all client-side development, including both Android operating-system level software development as well as Java application development.
The system software that Mike developed at 3LM was integrated into and pre-installed onto tens of millions of Android devices worldwide distributed by a dozen different original device manufacturers, greatly enhancing the enterprise functionality of these devices. Prior to 3LM, Mike worked as a systems engineer on the Android team for several years. During this time, Mike worked on different areas of the Android operating system, including security, application management, and power management. Mike served as tech lead for Power Management for Android from 2008 to 2010.
Prior to his work on the Android team, Mike worked on the platforms team in Google, the team responsible for Google's internal infrastructure. While at Google, Mike was also the recipient of a Founders Award, the highest employee award at Google, given for extraordinary entrepreneurial achievement by a team at Google (in this case, the Android team). Mike received a baccalaureate of science degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Washington.
