Prior to joining Grandbanks Capital as an Executive in Residence and launching ETL Capital, Hicks was head of M&A and strategic investing at RSA Security (EMC) and co-founder / President of Rockblocks Group, an investment holding company in the global vendor compliance software space. He was also co-founder and SVP of Corporate Development at Rudder Capital where he led multiple platform acquisitions in the digital media / IPTV services arena.

Previously, Hicks was an early / seed stage investor at Redleaf Ventures where he was EIR / founding investor in a technology spin-out from Cisco Systems and he led numerous early growth stage private equity investments as a member of the Technology and Communications Group at GE Equity. His professional skills include M&A, private equity / strategic investing, new business development, strategic alliances, capital fundraising, contract negotiation, financial management and intellectual property rights management.

Hicks is an active member of many entrepreneurial organizations and received his MBA from the FW Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College with a double major in corporate finance and entrepreneurial ventures.
