Jimmy Kan is a Principal of Anzu Partners. He also supports portfolio companies in business development, strategic marketing, and technical product development.
Prior to joining Anzu, Jimmy was a Hardware Engineer at Qualcomm, where he developed advanced memory technologies and sensors for low-power computing and IoT devices. His work resulted in an improved understanding amongst the semiconductor community on how next-generation memory technologies could be reliably embedded into leading-edge logic processes. Before Qualcomm, he spent time at Genentech developing high-throughput processes for characterizing and modeling protein purification in biologics.
Jimmy has given invited talks around the world regarding magnetics, nanomaterials, and advanced memory technologies has published over 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals, and is an inventor with over 20 granted US patents.
He earned his B.S./M.S. degrees in Materials Physics from the University of California, San Diego as well as a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, where his research focused on ultrathin metallic multilayers designed for the study of several magnetic, electronic, and optical phenomena.
