Bev Thorne, a dynamic, award-winning marketing professional with over 20 years’ experience in the field, has served as Freedom Mortgage’s Chief Marketing Officer since September 2016.

Hailed by colleagues for her energy, passion and positivity, Bev Thorne spearheads all of Freedom Mortgage’s acquisition and retention marketing programs, including B2B and direct-to-consumer efforts. That involves all traditional and online channels: telemarketing, DM, e-mail, print, online, broadcast, analytics, creatives, media buying, sponsorship marketing and corporate communications. She is heavily focused on digital transformation and enhancing lead generation, the result being that during her tenure Freedom Mortgage, the nation’s top VA and FHA lender, has reached the highest performance levels in its 30-year history.

Before coming to Freedom Mortgage, Bev Thorne served as the CMO at both ProSight Specialty Insurance in Morristown, N.J. and FirstKey Holdings, a New York City-based specialty finance company.

Prior to that, Bev Thorne spent nearly eight years as the CMO at Century 21 Real Estate, successfully refreshing the brand of an enterprise that features the largest sales force in the sector (over 100,000 agents scattered among 7,000-plus offices in 74 countries around the globe). After performing a top-to-bottom assessment of the company, she rebuilt the marketing team and fronted several high-impact multi-platform advertising campaigns and promotions, including Super Bowl TV ads and sponsorships of the U.S. men’s and women’s soccer teams.

Century 21’s online lead generation quadrupled and its visitor conversion rate increased by a factor of three during Bev Thorne’s time with the company, and franchisee satisfaction with corporate marketing rose markedly. As a result she was honored on three occasions by Inman News as one of the industry’s “100 Most Influential Leaders.”

From 2001-06, Bev Thorne served as Senior Vice President/Customer Marketing/B2B/B2C/Direct Marketing at JP Morgan Chase. Brought in during a restructuring to drive the first mortgage and home equity business, she instituted targeted marketing initiatives to support all distribution channels, while designing and implementing advertising and direct marketing campaigns. She also managed call center agents, the result being that call center volumes reached record levels for first mortgages and home equity loans, and call center mortgage and home equity line of credit revenue climbed dramatically.

In addition, the customer refinancing recapture rate doubled during her tenure, and there was a record rate of home equity line of credit activations.

Bev Thorne was a Phi Beta Kappa student at the University of New Hampshire, from which she earned a degree in economics. After starting her career in sales for AT&T she earned her MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s prestigious Wharton School of Business, having transitioned to a marketing track.

In 2000 she became the COO/CMO at Advanced Digital Internet, a position she held for a year before her hire at JPMorgan Chase.

Bev Thorne lives with her husband Jeff, a dentist, in Lebanon, N.J., where they operate a Christmas Tree farm, Evergreen Farm. The couple has three adult children.
