Ms. Barbara R. Snyder has been President of Case Western Reserve University since July 1, 2007. Ms. Snyder began her academic career in higher education in the Case Western Reserve University School of Law and began her tenure as the first woman to hold the office on July 1, 2007. She began her career as an Associate in the Chicago law firm of Sidley & Austin.

She served as an Executive Vice President and Provost of The Ohio State University where she was responsible for all facets of the academic programs of the University. She also spent two years as Vice Provost for Academic Policy and Human Resources, during which time she also served for eight months as the Interim Vice President for University Relations. Ms. Snyder served as Chairman of BioEnterprise Corporation and served from May 2008 to May 2009. She serves as a Director of BioEnterprise Corporation.

She has been a Director of KeyCorp since July 2010 and of Greater Cleveland Partnership since March 2012. She serves as a Board Member or Trustee of Northeast Ohio Technology Coalition, University Circle Inc., Musical Arts Association (Cleveland Orchestra), the Ohio Third Frontier Advisory Board, and the Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education. She serves as a Trustee at Case Western Reserve University. While at Ohio State, Ms. Snyder held the Joanne Wharton Murphy/Classes of 1965 and 1973 Professorship in the Moritz College of Law. She served as the Moritz College's associate dean of academic affairs and had been the Director of the college's former Center for Socio-Legal Studies, (now known as the Center for Interdisciplinary Law and Policy Studies).

She served as an Assistant Professor in the Case Western Reserve School of Law from 1983 to 1986. In 1986, she was promoted to Associate Professor and taught at the university until 1988. She served as faculty member of the University's Moritz College of Law from 1998 to 2007. She received the Moritz College of Law Outstanding Professor Award in 1997. She is the co-author of Ohio Evidence and the Ohio Rules of Evidence Handbook.

Ms. Snyder received the B.A. in Sociology from The Ohio State University and the J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
